Terms of use

These terms are the agreement between you and Falafy for using the website, the Windows and Linux apps and the web version. We wrote them in plain language. By creating an account, you agree to them and to the Privacy policy.

1. The service

Falafy is a free app for text, voice and video chat and screen sharing, organized into servers and maintained by an independent Brazilian project. 2. Your account

  • Use truthful information and an email address that is yours. Your account is personal; don't share your password.
  • You must be at least 13 years old to use Falafy, and the date of birth you enter at sign-up must be true. Anyone under 18 should only use it with the permission and supervision of their parents or guardians, and their accounts have the extra protections described in the Privacy policy. Accounts below the minimum age are closed. [TO BE FILLED IN BY THE OWNER: confirm the minimum age with legal advice, taking into account the ECA Digital (Law 15.211/2025)]
  • You are responsible for what happens on your account. Turn on two-factor authentication and end sessions you don't recognize.

3. Your content

  • What you post remains yours. You give us only the permission needed to store, process and display that content to the people you chose, for the sole purpose of operating the service.
  • Only upload content you have the right to share. Third-party emoji, stickers, sounds and images require the owner's permission.
  • Messages in servers are visible to anyone with access to the channel, according to the permissions set by the administrators.

4. What is not allowed

  • Illegal content, including any form of sexual exploitation or abuse of children and adolescents, which will be removed and reported to the authorities.
  • Harassment, threats, hate speech, incitement to violence, self-harm or animal cruelty.
  • Scams, phishing, spam, malware and attempts to break into accounts or systems.
  • Disclosing other people's personal data without authorization.
  • Infringing copyrights, trademarks or other third-party rights.
  • Impersonating another person, a company or the Falafy team.
  • Overloading or circumventing the service's technical limits, including through unauthorized automation.

5. Moderation and reports

Each server's administrators moderate their own space with the app's tools. The Falafy team may remove content, limit features or suspend accounts that violate these terms or the law, and complies with court orders under the Marco Civil da Internet (Brazil's Internet Civil Rights Framework). To report a message or a person, use the "Report" option in the menu of the message, the member or the conversation (right-click, or press and hold); the report goes to the Falafy team, which does not tell the reported person who reported them. You can also contact "Suporte Falafy" inside the app. Content involving the sexual exploitation or abuse of children and adolescents is removed and reported to the authorities.

6. Availability and limitations

  • Falafy is free and under active development. Features may change, and the service may be unavailable due to maintenance, failures or reasons beyond our control. There is no service level agreement (SLA).
  • End-to-end encryption for messages is not yet available. Don't use Falafy for information that requires that level of confidentiality.
  • Keep a copy of anything important: you can export your data in Settings.
  • Nothing in these terms removes rights guaranteed by the Código de Defesa do Consumidor (Brazil's Consumer Protection Code) or by other Brazilian laws.

7. Termination

You can delete your account at any time in Settings. What happens to your data is described in the Privacy policy. We may terminate accounts that seriously violate these terms or the law.

8. Changes to the terms

If these terms change in a relevant way, we will let you know in the app before the change takes effect, and the app will ask you to read and accept the new version to continue. If you don't agree, you can export your data and delete your account.

9. Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by Brazilian law. The courts of the user's place of residence have jurisdiction, as provided by the Código de Defesa do Consumidor. Questions: the "Suporte Falafy" contact inside the app or [TO BE FILLED IN BY THE OWNER: official contact email].
